With Interplast, she traveled extensively around the world to provide surgery and educational outreach.
On international medical missions during the past several years, Dr. Gosman has performed surgeries for children in many countries including the Dominican Republic, Belize, India, and Laos. She has also advised and trained local healthcare providers and worked to develop database systems to optimize patient care.
She is a volunteer surgeon with the LEAP Foundation, InterFace, and the Fresh Start program.
Dr. Gosman has written journal articles and book chapters on repair of cleft palate, repair of cleft lip, ear reconstruction, minimally invasive plastic surgery, breast surgery, and telemedicine. With regard to the latter, Dr. Gosman is particularly interested in International applications for telemedicine. For example, a pediatric plastic surgery telemedicine center would use computer technology and communication networks to allow local specialists like Dr. Gosman to participate immediately and directly with healthcare workers in remote parts of the world. Thus, telemedicine would bring expert medical care to third-world children whose disorders or injuries require specialized plastic surgery.
Dr. Gosman speaks both English and Spanish.
